The OGT Optishot Tour's final Major of the year will be played at the famed Bay Hill Club. Though the words "Bay Hill" have become irrevocably linked with the name, Arnold Palmer, Bay Hill actually enjoyed much more humble beginnings than being the winter home of the legendary golfer for which it has become known. Originally, the Bay Hill Club & Lodge was the vision of a group of investors from Nashville, Tennessee, who in 1960 sought to develop a private retreat at which to enjoy their favorite pastime. Thirteen months after the original conception, Bay Hill's championship 18 holes opened for play.

Soon after opening in October of 1961, the present pro shop building was erected, overlooking the 1st and 10th tees. Until further construction during the next few years developed the present-day clubhouse, offices, dining and lodge facilities, that original glass- walled structure served as clubhouse, sales office and pro shop for the new and then little- known Bay Hill Club & Lodge.

Enter Arnold Palmer. To promote the club, the partners invited Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Don Cherry and Dave Ragan to Bay Hill for an exhibition match in 1965. Impressed with the Central Florida area more than a decade earlier when he came to Orlando with the Wake Forest golf team for a match against Rollins College, Arnold Palmer fell in love with Bay Hill that day. Small wonder - he shot 66, seven strokes better than his nearest fellow competitor, Nicklaus. Palmer returned that winter to escape Pennsylvania's weather and to work on his game; the time spent only reinforced his resolve to acquire control of the club. The efforts climaxed in 1970 when he and several partners took an option to assume control of the Bay Hill Club. In 1976, Arnold Palmer purchased the Bay Hill Club & Lodge and it has been the winter home of the Palmer family ever since.

Golfers.....Please verify the settings of the round you play for Rounds 1 & 4. I inadvertently sent out Round 4 invites from 'Palmer_RD1'. Worse, the settings for Putting was set to gimmies. Bad day yesterday.......

Everyone should have received the proper invite from 'Palmer_RD4'.

I played as well as I could in all 4 rounds. Holed some long putts & a couple of chip-in's. I don't think that I could score better than 16 under over 4 rounds under those conditions. I think YBH needs drugs testing - please send a urine & stool sample to Braycobb asap. LOL. :P

Actually, it is using the -5. The system applies the handicap by hole not overall score. So, you "give up" 5 strokes, 1 on each of the 5 hardest holes based on the hole handicap. If you bogey one of those, it actually appears to be a double bogey.

Braycobb:

I give up 5 strokes not 6 ??? 5 toughest holes is 5 strokes. Stroke play ??? It does not matter if I make a par or a triple.

Do the math ??? The gross leader board is correct.

Hello Braycobb:

I checked out gross score and net score against hdcps.

YBH and Hickory's net scores are correct. Yours mine and RGallant's net scores are not correct. I might be missing something, but I don't understand your last post.

Cheers StorminDunes

P.S. HickoryBob has a point. I notice no videos from YBH( alias Hanpro )

Take Care All.

I just checked all the scores. They are correct as shown.

The handicaps do not apply in a way that subtract (adds) from your final gross score. The OGT handicap system uses the actual hole rankings to determine where the handicap strokes are applied, starting with the toughest ranked hole and working down. As a -5 handicap, you give up a stroke on the 5 easiest holes. In this case, that is holes 2, 14, 7, 10 and 17. You can see how this is applied if you look click on you your name and look at the individual round scores. You will see the actual score and then the Net score with the handicaps applied.

For example, in Round 1, you bogeyed holes 10 and 14. Your Net score is +2 for those holes vice +1 since they are 2 of the 5 easiest holes. On hole 7, you birdied. However, your net score was E since it was also one of the 5 easiest holes.

Hickory had the exact same thing happen on hole 3 of the first round. He made a bogey but his net score was a 2 for the hole.

That is the way the OGT handicap system works. I realize the majority of us are not used to that system and typically just subtract (add) our handicap from our final score. The OGT system applies handicaps as we would in match play. The scores do matter on each hole. Most of the time we don't recognize this because it "balances" out.

Good Morning Braycobb:

THE PROBLEM IS THERE ARE TWO HOLES WITH A 15 HANDICAP RATING. ONE OF THOSE HOLES SHOULD BE A 13 NUMBER. WHICH MEANS THE NET SCORES ARE NOT CORRECT. BOBS AND HANPROS ARE CORRECT BECAUSE THEY HAD TO GIVE A STOKE ON THAT HOLE ASWELL. THERE IS A PROBLEM.

IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU MAKE BIRDIE OR TRIPLE ONE STROKE ON FIVE EASIEST HOLES IS 5 STROKES.

Got it....Tournament has ben closed! Changes cannot be made at this point. Fortunately, the end result (all standings) would not change if we were given the extra stroke.
