Course Build for Hire

Postby jwheatle30 » Wed Mar 07, 2018 8:22 pm

Hello,

I'm new to the OGT and just purchased JNPG to use with Skytrak. I love the idea of being able to practice on a local home course via the course forge. I do not have the time to learn how to use the software so I am looking for someone who would be willing to build my real life 9 hole course. This is a simple course in rural Iowa.

Thank you!

Post the course name to see if there is lidar. I'm in your same boat too but I don't have the patience to use Course Forge.

More than likely, you will have to build the course yourself. There are some excellent Course Forge tutorials on the Perfect Parallel forum created by one of the developers. Because you can import the lidar and overlay image into Unity, it becomes basically tracing the tees. fairways, greens and rough, then painting the other areas and planting trees. There are many people that are more than willing to help you in the learning process.

I created the lidar heightmap that can be imported into Unity To help get you started.

Larry,

Where and how did you get the Lidar info?

Thank you,

I downloaded the Lidar data from the US National map. Then have to process it through several programs to get the Unity Package that you import into Unity.

Larry,

How difficult is this to do? I'm looking for Brown Deer Golf Course in Iowa City, IA.

I just finished my home course in Pocahontas, thank you so much for your help! This is addicting.

Thanks again!

It's not difficult, but it does require Global Mapper which is expensive ($499 +) and Photoshop. The other prgrams are free SASPlanet and Wilber. There is a tutorial on the PP forum explaining the process:

Lidar Heightmaps

I'll see if lidar is available Brown Deer.
